The 5 Best Hikes Near Seattle Within a 60 Miles Radius

Put Seattle in your rearview mirror as you head happily to these picturesque pathways and preserves. Washington is known for its natural beauty, so why not go out and experience it once in a while? Let the city melt off your shoulders as you find yourself in a whole new world less than an hour from your expensive Emerald City apartment. Here are the five best hikes near Seattle.

Cheery Creek Falls (Duvall): This one is located in an old logging forest and is capped by a 25-foot waterfall that pours into a glistening pool. The trails are navigable and the elevation isn’t too much for those of us working in cubicles. It’s a five-and-a-half mile smile of a trek.

Poo Poo Point (Issaquah): This 7-mile long trail works for people of all skill levels. It’s easy, a good length and fun. It’s the one you want to go to if your partner wakes you up at 9 am and says, “Hey, let’s go hiking!” but you were up until 3 in the morning watching that Tom Cruise movie you used to always watch in high school. That happens to you, too, right?

Mount Si (North Bend): Maybe this most well known and popular of all the hikes near Seattle, this is likely the one you’ve heard people talk about that sounded much more intimidating than walking to the corner store. This 8-mile hike is good in summer and in winter, for those of you looking for a snow-capped challenge.

Mailbox Peak (North Bend): A mythical, 10-mile hike where, at the top of the steep climb, there stands a literal mailbox placed there in the 1960s that’s been plastered over in band stickers and old letters. But if you make it to the peak, you’re blessed with an expansive view of the world. You basically become Zeus.

Rattlesnake Ledge (North Bend): A shorter, calmer excursion. While the hike is steep, it won’t wear you out too much. And the payoff is well worth it: Cliffside views and a stunning, mirror-like lake below.
